Discover the Latest Features Coming to iOS 18

I’ve been trying out the beta version of Apple’s new iOS 18 to give you a sneak peek of what’s coming. The official release is on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024. If you want to be ahead of the curve, here’s a first look at the cool new features!

Apple Intelligence Takes the Spotlight

Apple’s new iOS 18 introduces Apple Intelligence, a game-changing feature that brings advanced AI to your iPhone. If the previews are any indication, this is going to be impressive. Expect cool new features like personalized notifications, writing assistants, priority messages, audio summaries, custom emojis, and AI-driven photo creation and editing. Finally, Siri might become genuinely useful instead of frustrating.

🎣 The catch: Apple Intelligence will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and 16 models.

With iOS 18 on the horizon, you’ll need a compatible iPhone to access the new features. If you have an iPhone SE (2nd-gen or later), XR, XS, XS Max, or any model from the 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, or 16 series, you’re set to upgrade. However, if your device is an iPhone X, 8 series, or older, you’ll miss out on iOS 18. These older models will continue to run iOS 16, which still receives security updates but won’t support the latest features.

What’s New in iOS 18: Exciting Features to Look Forward To

iOS 18 is set to bring a host of new features that enhance both functionality and personalization. For added security, you’ll soon be able to use Face ID and Touch ID for individual apps, such as banking and dating. The revamped Control Center will offer more options like Apple Music and translation, with the added bonus of creating multiple screens for better organization—I’ll guide you through this customization in a future post. Photos will get a fresh look with auto-groupings for trips and pets, making it easier to view and organize your memories. Messaging gets a boost with the ability to react to texts with any emoji, new screen effects, message scheduling, and improved communication with Android users via RCS. Personalization options expand as you can now move app icons and widgets freely and adjust icon colors to fit your theme. Safari will enhance your browsing experience with article summaries and key point highlights. Plus, iOS 18 introduces Math Notes in the Calculator, live audio transcriptions in Notes, hiking guides in Apple Maps, a standalone password manager, and various security and privacy improvements. Stay tuned for detailed how-tos on these exciting new features once they’re live!
